I didn’t know acupuncture could help with that!

Many people are surprised to learn that acupuncture is about far more than just muscles, back pain or injuries. While it can absolutely support physical aches and tension, acupuncture is also commonly used to support things like stress, sleep, digestion, hormonal changes, headaches, fatigue and overall well-being.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic healthcare system that has been practised for thousands of years. It is based on the understanding that the body, mind and emotions are deeply connected, and that health comes from balance within the body.

Rather than simply focusing on symptoms in isolation, Chinese Medicine aims to understand the underlying patterns contributing to illness or imbalance. Practitioners look at the body as a whole — considering things like sleep, digestion, stress, energy levels, emotions and lifestyle — to help identify and address the root cause of what may be going on.

Your body is an interconnected system — a living network of fascia, nerves, blood vessels, hormones and biochemical signals that are constantly communicating with one another. Acupuncture works within this network, helping the body shift out of stress and into a more balanced and restorative state where healing and repair can occur. Modern research suggests acupuncture may influence the nervous system, circulation, connective tissue (fascia), inflammatory pathways and the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals.

Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of ultra-fine needles into specific points on the body to support the body’s natural ability to heal and regulate itself.

And something many people don’t expect… it can be surprisingly relaxing.

Many clients drift off during treatment and leave feeling calmer, more settled, and like they’ve finally had a chance to exhale.

Treatments

  • Acupuncture

An acupuncture appointment is more than simply treating isolated symptoms — it is a complete diagnostic and treatment system. Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles placed at specific points on the body to engage your nervous system, fascia, circulation, and hormonal rhythms

Treatments are tailored to the individual, to support the body’s natural healing processes while creating space for deep relaxation, regulation and recovery.

People commonly seek acupuncture support for:

    • Stress and emotional overwhelm

    • Sleep difficulties

    • Pregnancy support

    • Muscle tension and pain

    • Headaches and jaw tension

    • Menstrual and hormonal changes

    • Menopause support

    • Digestive concerns

    • General well-being and nervous system support

  • Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture is a gentle, holistic treatment that supports skin health from both an internal and external perspective.

Cosmetic acupuncture gently stimulates blood and Qi circulation, helping to deliver essential nutrients to the skin. The insertion of hair-fine needles creates controlled micro-stimulation, activating fibroblast activity and encouraging the production of collagen and elastin — the key building blocks for healthy, resilient skin.

By combining carefully selected body acupuncture points with facial needling to support your body as a whole, it promotes internal balance and long-lasting skin rejuvenation from within.

  • Cupping

Cupping is a traditional therapy used to help release tension, improve circulation and support the body’s natural healing processes.

Many people find cupping deeply relaxing and are surprised by the sense of lightness and relief they feel afterwards. It may help relieve muscular tension, tight fascia, headaches, stress, fatigue, and general aches and pains, while also encouraging the flow of blood and qi throughout the body.

Cupping treatments are tailored to the individual and may include stationary cupping, moving cupping or fire cupping techniques depending on your needs and comfort level.

  • Gua Sha

    Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a technique that involves using a smooth tool to gently glide over the skin to support circulation, release muscle tension and encourage the body’s natural healing response.

The treatment may bring up temporary red or purple marks known as sha, which in Chinese medicine are thought to reflect stagnation being brought to the surface as circulation improves.

Gua Sha is commonly used for tight muscles, stiffness, stress and general aches and pains, particularly through the neck, shoulders and back. Many people find it deeply relieving and relaxing.

  • Moxibustion in TCM

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves the gentle warming of acupuncture points using dried mugwort herb (moxa). The soothing heat is used to support circulation, warm the body, encourage healing and promote relaxation.

Moxa may be applied in different ways, including using a moxa stick held near the skin, placed on top of acupuncture needles, or used indirectly over protective materials to create a gentle warming effect.

It is often used for muscle tension, fatigue, cold-type conditions and to support overall wellbeing.

  • Tui na TCM

    Tui na

Tui Na is a form of traditional Chinese therapeutic massage that uses rhythmic pressure, stretching and hands-on techniques along the acupuncture meridians to help release muscle tension, improve circulation and support the body’s natural balance. It may be used alongside acupuncture to help with pain, stiffness, stress and overall wellbeing, and treatments can be both deeply relaxing and therapeutic.
